Maintaining Focus
I’ve managed to stay focused on the same projects for the longest time I’ve been able to in a long time. It’s not quite exactly focusing on one thing at a time. But, I have been limiting how much bouncing around I’m doing. One writing project and one editing project, as well as marketing stuff seems to be a good balance for me.
Writing
Rounding for Home
I’ve added over 35,000 words to this project in November. I thought it would end up being around 80k, but I’m already over 70,000 and, yeah…not even close to being done. Maaayyyybe at 90k, but I’m thinking it’s going to be closer to 100k at this point. I’m trying not to worry too much about what I’ll need to cut until I actually finish the draft.
Fixing the Books
I finished making the final edits on this and have it all set up to release on 12/5. It’s up for pre-order at pretty much all retailers(still waiting for Hoopla and Palace Marketplace, but should be everywhere else).
I’ve also been working on getting the paperbacks for the series ready. I have proof copies of each of them, so now I just need to actually start proofing them.
Slanting Sunlight
I made some edits to Chapter 2 of this going by feedback I got from a critique group, and then rewrote through Chapter 6. I have 8 more chapters to go, so hopefully this stage will be done in the next couple weeks.
Reading
Call the Bluff
This is the second book in the Aces High, Jokers Wild series by O.E. Tearmann. It’s…cyberpunk, I think. Not something I usually read a lot of. But, I found the first book during a queer speculative fiction convention, and I’m really liking the series.
Invitation to the Dance
And on the opposite end of the spectrum, this was a historical romance. I don’t think it was ever clear what year it takes place in, just ‘turn of the century’, so I’m assuming 1899-1901-ish. I’d set aside two other novels before starting this, so it was really good to finally find one that I could get into.
Crafting
I finished the ‘Aromantic and Proud’ cross stitch and am about 3/5 finished with the flag for the ‘Genderfluid and Proud’ one.
